ABOUT US

PRO-GALGO has been founded in 1999 by Mo Swatek, swiss sighthound lover who wanted to help after hearing about the hanging of the galgos. She persuaded her spanish husband to move to Spain to be able to work more efficient for the hounds. Her language skills made it possible to post the news about the hounds all over the world.
Our aim is not the simple rehoming of hounds all over europe. PRO-GALGO fights for a better future of the hounds in Spain by giving lectures in schools, kindergardens, universities, by writing articles about the galgos and their suffering, by giving speaches even for hunters if they let us.

For Germany & Switzerland Petra and Peter Braig and the founders of their association PRO-GALGO Deutschland e.V. home galgos.

In UK Elkie Lonnkvist founded with her friends PRO-GALGO UK and distributes the galgo-news in english

For Belgium and the Netherlands is Greyhoundrescue Belgium, our collaborator with their leader Josephine Van den Bergh.

In France, the sighthoundlover and presidente of LE BULLETIN DE LEVRIERS & PRO-GALGO FRANCE is homing an amazig amount of spanish hounds

Hi

I’ve only just found you! I’d very much like to work with you, in many ways. Chiefly, I’d like any news information from your associated contacts. I’d also like to use my site to join with you in fighting for a better life, putting pressure on the Spanish government to legislate to control the breeding of galgos & podencos, controlling the disposal of these dogs, controlling the conditions in which they live, etc. etc.

I work chiefly with L’Europe des Levriers with regard to fostering dogs, fundraising, and raising the profile of the plight of the galgos in France. I want to be able to use my site to draw together the separate rescue associations dotted around France so that they sometimes work together – such as with petitions and letter-writing campaigns.

I look forward to hearing from you, and hope that we can work together, as we have the same aims.

Amities

I heard about you through Caroline Lavalle. I’m a new artist the U.S. I hope I can help on some level, and will give you my prayer support. I love the sighthounds. I used to adopt the retired racers until I got so busy working that I had no time for them. Mine, Mars, Bella Donna and Shadow, have all crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. I’ve named my publishing company after them: Mars&Bella Music!
I want to get another doggie or two, but will have to wait until my schedule allows for companionship instead of leaving the dog(s) alone from 7:30am until 8pm everyday which I think is cruel in itself.
Bravo to you for taking on such a huge task! Thanks for caring for the voiceless:)

Hi, I’m a member of Galgo Rescue Internat’l Network (GRIN) in the USA and a member is traveling to Berlin in mid April and is willing to bring donations for the galgos. Is there someone who can pick up the donations from Berlin and get them to a galgo rescue organization in Spain? If yes, please email me: judygreenfield@earthlink.net. THANKS

Just a quick note from Gahanna OH USA. We are proud to be adopted by two galgos (brother and sister) – joining our family of 2 rescued retired greyt racers. Keep doing all that you do and you have our heartfelt support. We take our two Galgos, Pilar Bella Cristina and Pablo Max Guillermo, to visit the Ohio State University Vet Hospital for Dr. Couto’s and Dr. Iazbik’s students so they can see a Galgo in person, as Galgos are not usual in our locality.
Paws up to you all -
Tibbi Ramsdell and the Gahanna Ohio greyhounds and Galgos – Callie’s Less Reason, GiGi, Maxie and Bella and our angel, Azie grinning from the Rainbow Bridge
