SAD NEWS: Poor brave Guapo has passed away

8 Nov

It is with great sadness that I relay the news to you that poor brave Guapo has had to be put to sleep.

The nurse of GUAPO BLANCO determined this morning at 6.30am that Guapo had developed a large swelling in his leg which had also started to become discoloured. Shortly afterwards Guapo became breathless and was having extreme diffiuclty breathing. He was immediately taken to the vets where they determined that he had undergone kidney and liver failure and as a result was in septic shock caused by some form of bacterial infection. It was decided that Guapo’s suffering was too great and that he had endured pain for long enough. Sadly Guapo was put to sleep.

Everyone involved in his care is deeply saddened by his passing and deeply angered by the continued mistreatment of these beautiful animals who are simply thrown away like garbage once the life has been beaten and starved from then.

Antonio writes this message for Guapo:

When you arrive in heaven dear friend,

Tell God what the humans did to you.

Then he will be your God too.

We thank everyone that has sent donations and good thoughts to help try to save Guapo, but alas we were too late and he was simply too ill.

The donations we received towards Guapo’s surgery will be used to help other poor dogs in similar situations, such as the mutilated female galgo found by Antonio in Albacete yesterday and another Podenco who has over 25 gun pellets in his hind-quarters.

We hope that Guapo’s story has touched many people across the world and that his life will not have been in vain. His story will now help others like him get the lives they deserve.

Run free of pain and full of hope sweet Guapo xxxxxx
