SPANISH POLICE SAVED GALGOS FROM A CANAL

THIS IS THE STORY OF “FELIX”, A GALGO THAT WILL BE SOON ARRIVING AT PRO-GALGO’S TO BE PREPARED FOR REHOMING.
Un guardia civil rescata al perro del canal.
GUARDIA CIVIL

A member of the Service of Protection of the Nature (Seprona) of the Civil Guard of Don Benito rescued a galgo from the waters of the channel of Navalvillar de Pela as, due to the extremely steep incline, it could not get out.

The rescue, according to the Delegation of the Government, took place on 10th January in the morning, during the usual monitoring of the canal.

The galgo was inside the channel with part of its body submerged in the water and the agents of the SEPRONA, with just their hands and helped by a strap, were able to tie the dog and to rescue it. The poor dog had blood-stained legs, wounds produced when trying to get out of the channel.

What a surprise! It had no identification so no means of tracing the owner! Usual problem for galgos. So it was transferred to the shelter Protector Prado of Don Benito for treatments to its wounds.

In the course of 2009 the Civil Guard of Badajoz has recovered a total of 182 animals, not only domestic but also rare examples of threatened species like eagles, lions, iguanas, vultures. The animal were transferred to official centres of Recovery and Protection, under the specific care of veterinarians.

God Bless those who would work to save these galgos. I would always do what I could to save these creatures of God. Please continue to look for and rescue these animals. They are so precious and have been treated so wrongly. We pray that they would all be saved and go to a loving home.

Thank you to the people who rescued this precious Galgo. I cry frequently for the life these dogs are made to endure. My wish is for people to realize that these beautiful animals need love.
